I have always loved folklore, fairy tales, and trees. As a child, I would lie in the grass and stare up at the branches, watching birds weave through them. I would climb as high as I could and look out at the sky, noticing all the different colors. I usually had a journal or a book with me, and I especially loved reading fairy tales. 
 
This piece was inspired by a story I read in fourth grade, The Great Dimpole Oak. In the story, the oak tree is ancient and enormous, cherished by a small town and cared for by an old farmer. Children gather beneath its branches to listen as he tells stories about the Great Oak. 
 
It was simple, yet magical—and it captures exactly how I see trees today. 
 
This piece can be personalized to the owner’s preference, with the option to add children, animals, or other figures.
